RIDE THE WILD WITH MARK
Pojezierze Drawskie. I'd never heard of it. But on the map it looked amazing. Was it the perfect place for cycling? I had no idea because I'd never been there. But on the map it looked like it had everything, and not just for cyclists. Forests, lakes, rivers, hills. Space. Pojezierze Drawskie, fortunately for us, has all these things and much, much more. I say fortunately because when the page turned and it fell open on Pojezierze Drawskie in the atlas of Poland I was flicking through, that instigated the process of uprooting our young family's life in England and moving to Jelonki. That was 10 years ago.

I've always loved looking at maps. They can be incredibly helpful. Inspiring. Life saving. Or in our case life changing. But they cannot substitute for actually being in that place that you're looking at on the map. In the 10 years i have explored the forests, lakes rivers and hills of Pojezierze Drawskie extensively. Mainly on my bike. I have learned to ride differently.

I have always loved cycling, but in England and especially in my adult life, the fun, the joy of cycling had diminished. Living in London cycling became a quick, cheap, convenient and solitary way to get from A to B. And as exciting and challenging as cycling can be in a big city, for me it can never give you the joy and exhilarating sense of freedom that cycling can give you in such stunning nature, as we have here around Jelonki. It has been like learning to ride again, like it was like as a 5 year old boy riding unaided for the first time in the park. And experiencing the joy, the freedom and realising the possibility of where these two wheels can take me. All the way to Jelonki it turned out.

During the rides which I'll organise for you we will explore the Pojezierze Drawskie that I have discovered. We'll ride on secret and forgotten paths through the heart of the Drawski Park Krajobrazowy. Through beautiful and still untamed nature. Far from the crowds and city streets.

Come and learn to ride again.
